I'm four years into this novel and I keep rewriting the opening chapter instead of finishing it. Like I'll get to page 180 and think, wait, that first chapter isn't quite right, the voice is off, the pacing is wrong, maybe if I just... and then three weeks disappear. I know what I'm doing. I can see myself doing it. The opening is fine. It's actually fine.
