I'm four years into this novel and I've rewritten the opening chapter maybe thirty times. Thirty times. I keep telling myself it's not right yet, the voice isn't landing, the hook needs work. But I'm also completely broke and I haven't opened a freelance job email in weeks because I'm too busy adjusting semicolons. I know what I'm doing.
